The math behind the calculator
Every number is calculated from what you enter. No hidden assumptions.
- Referral fee =
price x referral % - Total costs per unit =
product cost + FBA fee + referral fee + ad spend per unit + other costs - Profit per unit =
price - total costs - Profit margin =
profit / price - ROI =
profit / product cost - Break-even price =
(product cost + FBA fee + ad spend + other costs) / (1 - referral %), the price where profit is exactly $0. - Max ad spend per unit =
profit + current ad spend per unit, the most you can spend on ads per sale before you lose money.

Amazon FBA calculator: common questions
How do I calculate Amazon FBA profit?
Start with your selling price and subtract the product cost, the referral fee (price times your category's referral rate), the FBA fulfillment fee, your ad spend per unit and any other per-unit costs such as inbound shipping or storage. What is left is profit per unit. The calculator above does exactly that with the fees you enter.
Where do I find my FBA fee and referral fee?
Use Amazon's Revenue Calculator or the fee preview for your product in Seller Central. The FBA fee depends on size tier and weight, and the referral rate depends on category. Both change from time to time, so enter the current numbers for your own product rather than a generic table.
What is the difference between margin and ROI?
Margin is profit divided by the selling price: how much of each sale you keep. ROI is profit divided by your product cost: how hard each dollar of inventory works. A $10 profit on a $30 item is a 33% margin, and if the item cost you $7 it is a 143% ROI.
How much can I spend on ads per unit?
Your break-even ad spend per unit is your profit before ads. The calculator shows it as max ad spend per unit. Spend above it and every ad-driven sale loses money, so set your bids and target ACoS below that line. For the ACoS and ROAS view, use our ROAS calculator.
Does this include storage and return costs?
Only if you add them. Put your average monthly storage, prep, inbound shipping and returns per unit into Other costs per unit. Long-term storage and low-inventory fees can change your result a lot, so check them in Seller Central.
