Free AI Visibility Score Checker for Online Stores
Enter your store's URL and we scan it live: whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Bing's crawlers are allowed in, whether your structured data, content and trust signals give AI assistants enough to recommend you, plus llms.txt and mobile speed. You get a 0 to 100 score, a letter grade and the 5 fixes that matter most.
How do I know if ChatGPT can find my store?
Check three things: whether your robots.txt and firewall let AI crawlers in, whether your pages explain your products in plain, structured form, and whether AI assistants actually name you when buyers ask. If GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot are blocked, those assistants cannot read your pages at all. If they can read them but your site has no Product schema, no FAQs and no clear answers, they have little to quote, so they recommend the stores that do.
The checker above tests the first two in about 20 seconds. For the third, ask ChatGPT and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask (for example "best waterproof hiking boots for wide feet") and note which stores they name and which sources they cite. Repeat it monthly, because AI answers change.
A high score does not guarantee AI recommendations, and a low score does not mean you never appear. It measures how ready your site is to be found, read and trusted, which is the part you control.
How the AI Visibility Score is calculated
Every number comes from what your site returned during the scan. Nothing is estimated or made up. We read only the page you enter, plus your robots.txt, llms.txt, llms-full.txt, sitemap.xml and, if the page has no product markup, one product page linked from it.
| Category | What we check | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| AI crawler access | robots.txt rules for OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Bingbot and Applebot-Extended (on the homepage and a product path), noindex or "noai" robots tags and headers, and whether your firewall answers a GPTBot visit differently from a browser. | 25% |
| Structured data | JSON-LD parsed and validated on the page and up to 3 product pages: Organization (name, URL, logo), WebSite, Product with offers (price, currency, availability), ratings and reviews (Product, Organization or business), BreadcrumbList and FAQPage. A Google merchant listing readiness check counts 10 Shopping fields (name, image, price, currency, availability, brand, GTIN or MPN, shippingDetails, return policy, ratings). It is our readiness check, not Google's official Rich Results Test. Invalid JSON and missing required fields are flagged. | 20% |
| Answer-ready content | One clear H1, H2 structure, headings phrased as buyer questions, a visible FAQ, short quotable answer paragraphs (20 to 80 words), enough readable text in the HTML and a Flesch reading ease score. | 20% |
| Trust and entity signals | HTTPS, About and Contact pages, policy pages (privacy, returns, shipping, terms), sameAs social profiles in schema, social links, customer reviews or ratings, and author or founder information. | 15% |
| Technical and llms.txt | llms.txt and llms-full.txt, sitemap.xml, canonical URL, meta title and description length, Open Graph tags, mobile viewport and image alt text coverage. | 10% |
| Speed | Google PageSpeed Insights mobile performance score, with Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP from real Chrome users when Google has the data, lab values otherwise). If Google's lab test does not answer in time we retry once, then score speed from real-user Core Web Vitals in the Chrome UX Report (phones, 75th percentile). If neither has data, speed is shown as basic checks and left out of the score. In compare mode, if only one site has a speed result, speed is left out of both scores. | 10% |
Scoring rules
- Each check earns full, half or no points. A category score is the share of its points earned; the overall score is the weighted average of the categories that could be measured.
- Grades: A is 85 to 100, B is 70 to 84, C is 55 to 69, D is 40 to 54, F is under 40.
- Product and review checks apply to stores only. A service or content site is not marked down for having no Product schema.
- If the page cannot be read from a data center (blocked, bot check page), content checks are not measured and the score is capped at 40, because AI crawlers usually hit the same wall.
- The top 5 fixes are ranked by the points each one would add to your overall score.
- Results are cached for 24 hours per URL, so everyone sees the same result for the same page that day.
- We also show the platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and others), theme and apps we can see in the page code. These are shown for context and do not change the score.
- Not checked: whether Bing (which ChatGPT search uses) has indexed the site. There is no reliable free way to read that from a scan, so we say so instead of guessing. Bing Webmaster Tools shows it for free.
- The AI mention test is separate from the score and never changes it. It runs when you ask for the free full report by email, and it asks Google Gemini 3 buyer questions for your category, written from your site's own description with the brand name removed, and checks whether your brand or domain is named in each answer. Answers are saved for 7 days per site. Labels say whether Gemini used a live Google search. AI answers change from day to day, so treat it as a snapshot, not a ranking.
What it does not measure
It does not track rankings or count every AI citation (the mention test is a 3 question snapshot from one AI engine), and it cannot see pages behind a login. Off-site signals (press, reviews on other sites, Reddit and YouTube mentions) matter a lot for AI recommendations but are outside one page scan. Our free audit covers those.
How to check and improve your store's AI visibility
- Scan your store. Enter your homepage or a product page URL above and run the free scan.
- Unblock AI crawlers. If any AI crawler shows as blocked, edit robots.txt (or your Cloudflare bot settings) to allow the ones you want to be found by.
- Add the missing schema. Add Organization, Product (with offers and ratings), BreadcrumbList and FAQPage JSON-LD. Most Shopify and WooCommerce review apps can output ratings.
- Make pages answer questions. Add a short FAQ and 2 to 3 sentence answers under question headings on key pages, and publish an llms.txt.
- Compare and re-scan. Compare against your top competitor, fix the gaps, and scan again the next day to see your new score.

AI visibility questions, answered
What is an AI visibility score?
It is a 0 to 100 measure of how easily AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI features can find, read and trust your site. It combines AI crawler access, structured data, answer-ready content, trust signals, technical files like llms.txt, and speed.
Is this AI visibility checker free?
Yes. The scan, the score, the category breakdown and the top 5 fixes are free with no signup. If you want every check and fix in one email, enter your email for the full report, also free.
Should I block GPTBot?
Only if you do not want OpenAI to use your content. Blocking GPTBot stops OpenAI's training crawler; blocking OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User stops ChatGPT from finding and opening your pages for shoppers. Most stores that want to be recommended allow all three.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?
llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of your site that summarizes your brand and links to your most useful pages for AI assistants. It is a young, optional standard, so it carries a small weight in the score, but it is quick to add and costs nothing.
Why can the scanner not read my site?
Some firewalls and bot protection block visits that come from data centers. AI crawlers also come from data centers, so if our scanner is blocked, they often are too. Check your Cloudflare or security plugin settings for "block AI bots" or bot fight options.
Does a high score guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my store?
No. The score measures readiness: whether AI can access and understand your site. Recommendations also depend on your reputation across the web, reviews and how well you match the question. A high score removes the blockers you control.
Can I check an Amazon, Walmart or Etsy storefront?
You can scan the URL, but the marketplace controls crawler rules, schema and speed for every seller, so the score mostly reflects the marketplace. Your own brand site is where you control what AI assistants read about you.
